Summer may be nearly over – for those of us in Scotland with kids back at school since the middle of August – it definitely feels over! But it also means looking forward to Autumn which brings many lovely things, not least the Enchanted Forest event. Each year the woodland around Loch Faskally near Pitlochry is transformed into a magical place with their stunning lighting and sound show.
This years event takes place between the 4th October and 4th November with the theme Of The Wild. The event has run now for 16 years and has become one of THE things to experience. We have been before and love the show. Each year is differently themed, with spectacular lighting and specially commissioned soundtrack.
Visitors to the show park in Pitlochry and are then transported to Loch Faskally and the Enchanted Forest by dedicated shuttle buses departing from Fishers Hotel in the centre of Pitlochry. Although you buy timed tickets this is just for the outward bus and you can stay as long as you like (until the last bus!) and go round as many times as you wish. There are refreshments available in the Forest (and who can resist a toffee apple or warming mulled wine or hot chocolate?!)
We have enjoyed the event in wet and dry weather – and actually think the wet night was the best! Somehow the lights seemed all the brighter and more vivid.
Booking ahead is essential and weekend dates, especially those around school holidays book up early – but there are lots of tickets available.
Tickets can be booked from the Enchanted Forest and Brooklinn Mill is about 45 minutes drive from Pitlochry.
